Cop Who Gunned Down DIMEBAG's Killer To Attend INDIANAPOLIS METAL FEST

September 18, 2007

James Niggemeyer — the Columbus Ohio police officer who is widely credited for saving lives in December 2004 when he entered a local nightclub without backup and killed a crazed gunman responsible for blowing away four people, including PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott — will attend the Indianapolis Metal Fest with writer/photographer Chris Armold on Saturday, September 22.

"Rob Mason, one of the organizers of the Indianapolis Metal Fest gave me a call after reading my book, 'A Vulgar Display of Power: Courage and Carnage at the Alrosa Villa'," explained author Armold (who goes by the name Chris A. on the cover of his book). The book chronicles the story of the events and the people surrounding the murder Dimebag, Jeff Thompson, Erin Halk and Nate Bray. "Rob was really moved by the book and wanted other metal fans to have the opportunity to read it. He asked if James and I would be interested in attending the show and signing copies of the book. Of course I said absolutely and passed the invitation onto Officer James."

The inaugural Indianapolis Metal Fest will be held at two adjacent venues, Birdies Live and the K.O.C. Ballroom, in Indianapolis. The doors at K.O.C. open at noon. Some of the bands participating include OBITUARY and ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY. Tickets cost $15.00.

"I've seen a few of these bands and metal fans in Indianapolis should be in for a great time," said Armold. "I hope folks will support this great show and of course take a few moments to wander over and meet me and James Niggemeyer."

The scheduled signing time for Officer Niggemeyer and Chris Armold is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the K.O.C. Hall.
